What is Media Art?

Imaginary Project Idea

I would like to either shoot my first video or animate the story of "Lazy Goofy Lucy". Lazy Lucy is a character that really wants to jump start her life but she is too lazy to get it going. In the end, she learns a great lessonI would like to incorporate original music and a final video or animation scene that reveals Lucy's new skills in an aerobics class. LGL's characteristics are a compilation of several gym members' I have met over the years.

What is Media Art?

Media Art is a multidisciplinary approach to media creation that promotes personal innovation including sound video and computer art.

Why do you want to make media?

My father has always told me to do what I love and it will never feel like work. I truly understand this as an adult.  I want to make media because it is what I have always done for pleasure without realizing it was considered media.  I love visual effects, graphic design, manipulating photos, songwriting, singing, and poetry.  I get excited when others understand my vision and appreciate it.  It is a wonderful feeling to create artistic projects that I have developed purely because it was my desire to do so. It is also great to target media to specific audiences.

Why is it important to know who your audience is?

It is important to know who your audience is because there must be a connection between your work and the audience. If you are an artist that is not seeking an audience, then an audience is not important. I would prefer to always start out with my own vision and if targeting others, I would then add specifics to reach the particular audience.

Understand and share with the class what it is that drew you into the course.

I was drawn into this course simply because I read the description and have never identified with the outline of any course before. Media Arts describes exactly what I love to do and want to learn more about.

Unfortunately, I have not received most of my textbooks yet. Now, I wish I had ordered all Kindle versions, as it would have been instant.
